Can you rebuild or replace my existing deck instead of starting from scratch?

Yes, and it's a big part of what we do in Bartlett. A lot of decks here went up in the '90s and 2000s, and often the frame is still solid even when the surface boards are worn out. If the structure checks out, we can replace just the decking and railing—redecking—which costs less than a full teardown. If the framing has issues, we'll tell you straight and rebuild it right rather than lay new boards over something that won't last. Either way, you get the honest version after we take a look.

Wood, cedar, or composite—what should I build my deck out of?

It comes down to budget and how much upkeep you're up for. Pressure-treated pine is the most affordable and takes stain well. Cedar costs more but has a natural beauty and weathers nicely. Composite—we build a lot of TimberTech—runs higher upfront, but you skip the staining and sealing for the life of the deck. We build with all of them, so we're not steering you toward one; we'll lay out the trade-offs and let you decide what fits your house and your weekends.

Do you build pool decks?

Yes—pool decks are one of the things we're known for in Bartlett. We design around the pool's shape, the grade, and the clearances, and we pay attention to the details that matter around water: slip-resistant surfaces, proper drainage, and code-compliant railings and gates. Whether you want an in-ground pool wrapped in deck or a combination deck-and-patio setup, we've built plenty of them around here.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Bartlett?

How long will my deck or porch take?

The build itself is usually a few weeks once we're on site. What's harder to pin down is everything before that—the design, material lead times, and how quickly the permit clears. Do I have to visit a design center, or will you come to me?

Both. We start at your home so we can see the space and take measurements. From there, Bartlett homeowners have two design centers to choose from, each about 30 minutes away—our Naperville location on Route 59 and our Palatine location on Northwest Highway. That's where you can see and feel the actual decking and patio materials and lock in your design before we build.
